If you rely on Medicare Advantage plans, there are some important updates to keep an eye on for 2027. Federal officials have set a payment increase for insurers averaging about 2.5%, which adds over $13 billion in spending—closer to 5% when you factor in population-related risk. Still, many insurers are concerned this increase may not keep pace with rising healthcare costs. As a result, we could see some changes to those extra perks that make certain Medicare Advantage plans stand out: higher annual out-of-pocket caps, fewer dental options, and possible reductions in vision, hearing, gym, transportation, or in-home support benefits.
In highly competitive areas, you might notice that popular benefits remain, but with tighter limits or higher copays. Some insurers could even decide to exit specific regions altogether. When the annual notice of changes arrives later this year, take a careful look. Open enrollment from October 15 to December 7 is your chance to compare benefits, doctors, and prescription coverage so you know exactly what you’re getting.
My role is to help you navigate these updates with clarity and confidence—so you can make informed choices that protect your health and your peace of mind.
